May Newsletter: Moving with Joy and Finding Your Flow

Can you feel that? The air is shifting, the days are stretching out, and there’s a distinct sense of renewal in the atmosphere. Welcome to May. If April was about planting the seeds of your new routines, May is about watching them break through the surface.

For many of the high-achieving women in our community, the transition into a new month can sometimes feel like just another deadline. But I want to challenge you to look at May differently. This isn't just another thirty-one days to "grind" through. This is your invitation to reclaim your power, find your rhythm, and move with a level of joy that feels completely unapologetic.

We’re moving away from the "shoulds" and stepping firmly into the "flows." Are you ready to find your glow?

Finding Your Flow: More Than Just a Buzzword

We talk about "flow" a lot in the wellness world, but what does it actually mean for someone who is balancing a career, a social life, and personal health goals? Flow is that magical state where you are so immersed in what you’re doing that the rest of the world just... fades out. It’s when your skills meet a challenge in a way that feels effortless, even when you’re working hard.

Psychologists call it a "flow state," but I like to call it the "Joy Zone." When you’re in it, you aren't checking your watch or thinking about your inbox. You are present. You are powerful. You are you.

Why Flow Matters for Your Health

When you live in a constant state of "hustle," your nervous system is on high alert. That’s where burnout lives. By actively seeking flow: whether that’s through a dance class, a deep-focus work session, or a sunset walk: you’re telling your body it’s safe to relax. Flow reduces cortisol, boosts creativity, and leaves you feeling energized rather than drained.

This month, we are focusing on how to build a life that facilitates these moments. We aren't just "working out"; we are practicing the art of being alive.

The "Deep Dive Series": Bringing the Blog to Your Feed

If you’ve been following along on Instagram or LinkedIn lately, you might have noticed things looking a little different. My team and I: shoutout to Sonny and Penny!: have launched a Deep Dive Series.

I realized that a lot of the "juicy" stuff I write here on the blog gets lost in the noise of the internet. So, we’re bringing the blog to you. Every week, we’re taking one core concept: like mindful movement, metabolic health, or reclaiming your morning: and breaking it down into actionable bites on social media.

If you see a tip that resonates with you on your feed, click the link in my bio to read the full breakdown here on the blog. We’re building a library of resources designed specifically for the woman who wants to lead with strength and grace.

Community in Motion: May Events

Transformation doesn't happen in a vacuum. It happens in community. This May, I want to see your faces, hear your stories, and move together. We have a packed schedule designed to get you out of your head and into your body.

Stryd Walk Clubs

There is something deeply restorative about a group walk. No mirrors, no heavy weights, just the rhythm of your feet on the pavement and the hum of good conversation. Our Stryd Walk Clubs are the perfect "low-stakes, high-reward" entry point for your wellness journey this month.

Whether you’re a seasoned athlete or just looking to hit your step goal, these walks are about connection. We’re not just moving our bodies; we’re building a support system.

Zumba: Dance Like Nobody’s Judging

If you want to find your flow, you have to try Zumba. It is the ultimate expression of moving with joy. I promise you, within ten minutes of the music starting, your brain stops worrying about that awkward email you sent and starts focusing on the beat.

Our May Zumba Schedule:

  • The Big Kickoff: We are at POST Houston on the first Thursday of the month. This venue is iconic, the energy is electric, and the views are unmatched. If you haven't experienced Zumba at POST, make this the month you do it.

  • The Weekly Rhythm: For the rest of the month, join me at Trebly Park in downtown Houston.

Come as you are. Wear what makes you feel comfortable. Bring a friend or come alone: you’ll leave with a whole new crew.

Presence: The Next Level of Your Journey

For those of you who are ready to go deeper than a weekly workout, the Presence Group Coaching program is where the real "inner work" happens.

High achievers are often masters of the "outer world": we know how to hit targets and manage teams. But "Presence" is about mastering your inner world. It’s a group coaching experience designed to help you reconnect with your identity, understand your body’s signals, and move with intention.

We cover everything from mindful eating habits to the psychology of self-sabotage. It’s about building a foundation of health that doesn't crumble the moment life gets stressful.

4 Tips to Find Your Flow This May

If you’re feeling a bit "stuck" as we enter this new month, don't panic. You don't need a total life overhaul. You just need a few strategic shifts. Here are four ways to start finding your flow today:

1. Audit Your Energy, Not Just Your Time

We are obsessed with time management, but what about energy management? Notice which tasks drain you and which ones fill you up. This month, try to schedule your most "flow-heavy" tasks (the ones that require creativity or deep thought) during your peak energy hours. If you’re a morning person, don't waste those first two hours on emails. Use them for your big projects.

2. Move for Five Minutes

You don't always need a 60-minute gym session to reset your system. If you feel your focus slipping, stand up and move for five minutes. Stretch, do a few squats, or have a mini-dance party in your kitchen. This physical "reset" floods your brain with oxygen and can help you slide back into a productive state. For more tips on building these habits, check out our guide on 4 Healthy Eating Habits (which includes great lifestyle advice, too!).

3. Clear the Mental Clutter

Flow requires focus. It’s hard to get into the zone when your phone is buzzing every thirty seconds. Practice "Digital Minimalism" during your flow blocks. Turn off notifications, put your phone in another room, and give yourself permission to be unreachable for a little while. Your brain will thank you.

4. Practice Self-Compassion

Renewal isn't a linear process. Some days you’ll feel like a powerhouse, and other days you’ll feel like you’re walking through molasses. Both are okay. The goal isn't perfection; the goal is presence. If you miss a workout or have a "blah" day, acknowledge it and move on. Don't let a bad day turn into a bad week.

Let’s Make May Meaningful

May is a bridge. It’s the bridge between the preparation of spring and the high energy of summer. I want you to walk across that bridge with your head held high and your heart open.

Whether I see you at a Stryd Walk Club, on the dance floor at POST Houston, or inside the Presence coaching group, know that I am rooting for you. You have the power to redefine what health looks like for you. You have the power to find joy in the movement.

Let’s get after it.

Stay connected and join the conversation:

See you out there!

With love and movement, Autumn
